About the Department
History
The department was established to cultivate professionals in sports and health and to meet the following needs:
- Address the rapid growth in societal demand for the sports health industry.
- Train interdisciplinary sports and health professionals for the technology-driven era.
- Fulfill the needs for holistic health development and physical therapy care beyond the medical and healthcare system.

Features of the Department
Since its establishment, the department has been dedicated to cultivating interdisciplinary professionals in sports and health to meet the growing demand of the rapidly expanding sports health industry. The curriculum is built on a foundation of essential courses in sports guidance and physical health care, integrating knowledge from the technological era, such as smart sports health technology, and offering opportunities for international learning to prepare students with global competitiveness.
At both undergraduate and graduate levels, the department emphasizes comprehensive learning from theory to practice, offering core professional courses and a wide range of electives. To enhance students' practical skills and facilitate professional certification, the department provides specialized training for certifications such as the National Physical Fitness Instructor and Traditional Restorative Massage Technician. Students also have the opportunity to participate in overseas internships, further advancing their professional expertise and international mobility.
The department boasts multiple well-equipped professional classrooms, including the "Magic Classroom"," Cardiovascular and Physiotherapy Health Care Classroom","Mat Classroom","Meili Classroom","Vigor Classroom"and"Smart Tech and Sport Empowering Classroom" ,furnished with advanced facilities such as massage therapy beds, exercise physiology assessment instruments, and intelligent sports training systems. These facilities enable students to engage in practical learning in health promotion and disease prevention.
The faculty team comprises subject matter experts, including professors, associate professors, and assistant professors, with extensive research and teaching experience in fields such as exercise physiology, sports psychology, and sports science. The department actively collaborates with industry professionals, inviting experts in sports health and sports rehabilitation medicine to participate in teaching, aligning courses with real-world needs and enhancing students' employability after graduation. Additionally, the department is committed to fostering academic and industry collaboration by organizing regular seminars and workshops. These events provide students with opportunities to interact with domestic and international experts and scholars, enriching their academic perspectives and professional skills.

Specialization:Enhancing and implementing professionalized practice and research in sports and health.
Certification:Guiding students to become certified specialists in various sports instruction or physiotherapy health professions.
Localization:Developing sports and health care models and techniques that are in line with Taiwanese society and culture.
Socialization:Fulfilling the responsibility of a university in the society and strengthening the connection between sports health professional skills and social needs.
Internationalization:Reinforcing the connection with the international sports and health industry trend and creating overseas training opportunities, including developing a dual degree education system.
Faculty
The department currently has ten full-time faculty members, including five professors, two associate professors, two assistant professors, and one lecturer. Their areas of expertise include exercise physiology, respiratory physiology, exercise enhancement and nutrition, sports science, sports psychology, motor learning and control, exercise program design, senior health care, functional health food development, children's physical fitness, aromatherapy, yoga, Pilates, and more. Additionally, the department invites experts from the sports health industry, sports rehabilitation medicine, and health management fields to collaborate in teaching, enhancing students' ability to connect with industry needs.
